Storm Chasing

1. Why do you storm chase?

   SWIFT chases storms for several different reasons.The main one is to gather footage from inside tornadoes with our tornado probe.That way we can learn more about how tornadoes really work.

    

    We also,chase because we love to.It is truly our passion or obsession.

2. Have you ever been scared during a storm chase?

   A little bit.I know I was a little nervous being so close to the F-5 in Iowa.So the answer is upon occasion...yes.

3. Do you forecast weather yourself or rely on other companies info.?

   Yes, we do forecast the severe weather.Joseph is our lead forecaster and he relies on different computer models as well as gut instinct on where to chase on a given day.

4. Do you take other people with you outside of your chase team?and would I be able to go?

   In the past we have.However,here lately we have not taken anyone that is not a part of the team or a part of a media group.

    

    We do not usually let individuials go with us just because of the danger and that we really aren't there just to be there.We are there to collect scientific data.However,we are considering starting storm chasing tours.
